Thanks for checking out my guest bloggers for the
I’m so excited to be posting over here on Amy’s blog! We are participating in the “New Year, New Ideas, New Possibilities Linky Party” hosted by Primary Possibilities. What a great opportunity to find new blogs and new ideas!
First, let me introduce myself. My name is Colleen and my blog is Fun and Fearless in First. I am in my 7th year of teaching, and in the past few years I have been teaching first grade, which I absolutely LOVE! I have been blogging less than a year and I’m hooked.
Today I’d like to share with you my new product… Penguin Contractions! Thus far, my TPT products have been for classroom set-up and management. I’m trying to get creative and make more literacy and math games/centers for my classroom based on the skills I’m currently working on.
My firsties need a LOT of practice with contractions. It’s a tough skill for them to comprehend. Can you blame them? Take two words, kick out some letters, smoosh the remaining letters together, and throw in an apostrophe?! My kiddos can barely say the word “apostrophe,” let alone use one correctly! So, we practice, practice, practice. In this literacy center I included a bunch of contraction matches, so that you could use them all, or only the contractions you are currently focusing on. Check it out in my TPT store.
In math, we are beginning our unit on place value. I made some place value sorting mats to use when we show numbers using base-10 blocks. Check out my blog to get your own copy!
I hope you’ve enjoyed my post. I would love for you to visit to my blog and check out what I’m all about. If you like what you see, I hope you’ll become a follower and stick around a while.
Enjoy the rest of the blog hop!
