I had the privilege of reviewing a product called, Survey Says, by Erica Crowder over at Sprinkles To Kindergarten.
The CCSS are going to require more data analysis and this product is a great way to introduce the concept to Kindergarteners. It contains 7 surveys that will appeal to little ones. One of the requests for this swap was to have children interact with the product. I don't have much access to young children. My friend graciously "loaned" me her two, but asked that I not post pics of them on the internet. So, I have their results, just not pics of them using the surveys. I was able to get them to do 3 of the surveys before they had to leave. Here they are...
One thing I really liked about this survey was the fact that I had a choice on the question cards. I could either use "red or green apples" or "red apples or green apples". I chose the second ones so that I could pull in a little language (adjectives) into my math lesson.
The second survey we did was on whether you preferred day or night. I wanted to show the variety that this project offers, so I did this one without the graph lines. I loved it! My friends were able to move the coins around to compare, add, and subtract. This really helped "Sam" analyze the data in a more concrete way.
Finally, we did the survey on cats and dogs. For this one, "Andy" informed me that he could "Do a harder one", so for this one, I added a key that made each circle equal 2 friends' responses. He then completed to data analysis (on his own while I was helping "Sam" - notice the extra bit of info.)
So, head over to Erica's TPT store to pick up this wonderful resource.
Finally, head over to Mrs. Stanford's blog, Mrs. Stanford's Class, to check out the other product reviews.
