First Day Jitters Blog Hop

I am excited to join Fierce in Fourth's Blog Hop.  Even though this will be my 25th year teaching, I still have butterflies and spend the night before tossing and turning.  So, here are my jitters....

1. I am in a new position this year doing something I have never done before.  It is a little outside my comfort zone since it involves "Official Paperwork", otherwise known as IEP's.  I will not have my own full-time class and I'm not quite sure how I am going to like that.

2. Scheduling!!!  I still don't know exactly how my day is going to look or how in the world I am going to fit all of my responsibilities into 6 hours.  I know it will all work out, but I hate not knowing.

3. I feel such a tremendous amount of responsibility to my students, their parents and their teachers.  I so want my students to succeed, their parents to be informed and satisfied, and their teachers to feel free to ask me for help whenever needed.

I plan to keep reminding myself each day that God has put me in this position "For such a time as this" and I know that He will be guiding my days.

Happy Blogging!

PS - I am having a Linky Party on Encouraging Reluctant Learners and would love any advice I can get.

  1. Hi Amy,

You are going to be great at this! You will be writing IEP's in 30 minutes in no time :-) Scheduling is always a huge pain, just know that it won't be set for a few weeks and that you will revise many times before it works!!!

  3. Hi Amy! Thanks for dropping by my blog! Isn't it great that even the most experienced teachers still get the jitters? I'm thinking that when the jitters stop, it's probably time for me to find a new occupation.

The colors in your banner are the very colors I'm using as I revamp my classroom this year. Love, love, love them!

  6. Wow your story about 34 first-graders is remarkable, they're all so needy and little at that age! I'm glad you were able to hire another teacher that year. Our district has a cap size of 32 for 4th & 5th grade as long as the cross-grade level band's total combined average is more than 32. I'm glad Florida passed the law for no more than 18 - Arizona needs to follow suit for our primary grades too! Your newest follower,
    :)
